UTB EMBARKS ON NATIONAL PARK ACCOMODATIONS CLASSIFICATION
- Sensitization exercise ahead of classification in Mbarara, Kabale, Masindi, Kasese and Moroto
- Classification and grading of lodges and tented camps in and near Uganda’s national parks, starts on 19th October 2016.
- UTB wants hospitality industry to raise the bar so that they can meet international standards, and customer expectations.
- This will help make Uganda more competitive as a tourism destination
The Uganda Tourism Board UTB is targeting hotel owners, managers, staff, local leaders and technocrats to appreciate the desired standards and work towards achieving them.
The facilities will be categorized and this gives the business a chance to benefit from government support and ensure fair taxation.
James Ssebagala, head of UTB Quality Assurance department, says the classification exercise is done using the same standards set for all East African Community members.
