The UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon has recognized Gabon’s Ali Bongo as the president-elect and welcomed his call for national dialogue.
In a statement released in New York on Sunday, Mr. Ban Ki-Moon has cautioned that the dialogue must be representative of all stakeholders towards national reconciliation, inclusive governance, and should ensure peaceful and credible legislative elections due in three-month’s time.
This follows the ruling of the Gabonese Constitutional Court on the appeals lodged by opposition leader Jean Ping against the preliminary presidential results.
