The five; Omar Awadhi Omar, Mohammad Hamid Suleiman, Abu baker Batemyeto, Dr Ismail Kalule and Yahaya Suleiman Mbuthia, have been on remand for over 5 years on charges of terrorism, murder and attempted murder. These were last week exonerated of the charges; however, they were re-arrested on their way to Luzira Prison to pick their belongings.
In a press release today, police spokesman, Fred Enanga, revealed that the five, while at Luzira Upper Prisons, allegedly created documents and materials connected with preparations to facilitate, assist or engage co-conspirators to undertake another terrorist attack in the country, mainly targeting security facilities.
Currently, the five are under police custody while investigations are ongoing. Police has appealed to members of the public to always be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
