Tea growers in Kigezi Region warn that laxity by Government to pay farmers through the National Agriculture Advisory Services Project, which has delayed timely planting, will have an impact on the export volumes in the coming months.

According to the farmers, Government owes the farmers’ association up to Shs. 36 billion, which was supposed to be paid to nursery bed owners to supply local farmers in the four districts.

However, Government, through the Office of the Prime Minister, says the money will be cleared in the next two weeks.
