The public has been urged to honor road sign posts and avoid stealing them for selfish reasons, as these help avert accidents.

Standard Chartered Bank Head of Corporate Affairs, Helen Nangonzi, made the appeal this morning at a press briefing where the bank announced a 5million shillings package towards the annual Uganda Sports Press Association Road Safety Campaign set for 17th September in Buwama, along Kampala-Masaka Road.

USPA President Sabiiti Muwanga lauded the bank for the support and assured her that USPA is committed towards transparency and accountability of all funds received.

USPA started the campaign in 2004 after the death of sports scribes, Kenneth Matovu, Leo Kabunga, Simon Peter Ekarot from New Vision and Francis Batte Junior from the Daily Monitor in a fatal accident along the Jinja Highway near Lugazi Trading Center in 2001.
