South Sudanese have taken to the streets to protest a proposal to send peacekeeping troops to the warring country after the government said the move violates the sovereignty of the nation.

The citizens took to the streets on Wednesday with placards some of which were bearing messages of resistance to “neocolonialism”.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and African Union leaders have been pushing for forces under IGAD to keep peace in the war-torn country.
