Somali citizens have for the first time openly discussed the issue of sexual violence in conflict.

During the international day to eliminate sexual violence following decades of civil war, participants engaged in a vibrant talk with women urging religious leaders to ask both the security forces and the Al Shabab to desist from such acts.

Last year, the Somalia reported that 94% of survivors of sexual violence cases were female and 74% of them had come from IDP communities.
