Medics in Sheema District are worried of the rampant spread of sexually transmitted infections, mostly among the youths in the district.
According to the latest findings, out of every 10 patients screened, at least 3 have sexually transmitted diseases.
The revelation was made during a mass-screening & treatment exercise where about 20,000 people received treatment.
Long lines, akin to those of residents taking part in an area, characterized the Health ministry’s free sexually transmitted diseases tests. A breakdown of some lower health facilities in the district did not help with the congestion.
Medics here admitted the population is still ignorant about usage of condoms.
The three-day exercise saw over 5000 screened medicated. They however ask for regular free services as many admitted poverty hinders their affordability of the mandatory services.
