Sesame farmers in the country have tasked the government to invest more funds into the production of the non-traditional crop currently employing 80% of women in Northern Uganda.

The farmers are concerned about post-harvest losses and poor packaging, denying them access into the regional and international markets.

According to Mama Satana, a re-known sesame grower and exporter, the crop makes 2.4% of total exports fetching the country an estimated USD 55.2 million, about shs.2 trillion.

Commissioner of external relation from the ministry of trade, Cyprian Batala says he will look into the matter.
