Police have relaxed their operations on the commercial motorcyclists also known as boda boda riders, adding them a grace period of three weeks to acquire valid driving permits.

This follows an agreement between the police and the riders on Tuesday evening at Nsambya Sharing Hall where the riders complained about the high cost and long procedures of acquiring a permit.

However, the Director Uganda Traffic Police, Dr. Steven Kasiima insists that the crackdown on those who abuse the traffic rules like carrying more than one passenger and riding without a helmet is still on.
