Democratic Party president Norbert Mao has rebuked government for allegedly using its political opponents as a scapegoat for the attacks on Gulu central police station.

Addressing journalists in Kampala ealier today, Mao says government should take responsibility for the events that culminated into the Sunday night attack other than dump the blame on the opposition.

The Inspector General of Police Gen. Kale Kayihura while addressing media on Monday blamed the attack on assailants who wanted to rescue the UPC National Assistance Secretary for mobilization Dan Odiya.

Odiya was earlier arrested on charges of murder and terrorism after an attack on a local defense unit detachment.
