Makerere University academic staff maintain that government has until the end of business today to pay their June salaries and allowance arrears for five months or they lay down their tools.

The chairman of the Makerere University Academic Staff Association (MUASA) Dr. Muhammed Kiggundu says they demand the university more than 12.5 billion shillings in arrears.

The threat by the teaching staff to lay down tools comes less than a month to the opening of the new semester.
