High court has released on bail Makerere University professor Christopher Bakuneta who is accused of raping a student from the school of natural sciences.
The presiding judge Justice Yasin Nyanzi has granted Bakuneta bail on grounds that his victim has forgiven him and that the incident did not amount to rape because she consented to engage sexually with him.
Bakuneta has been released on a shs1 million cash bail while his three sureties are to pay Sh5 million non-cash each. He is said to have raped the student on 27th March 2016.
