HIS Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, the Kabaka of Buganda and the Kyabazinga of Busoga,
His Majesty William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV have vowed to promote Unity in their respective Kingdoms.
During the latter’s maiden courtesy visit to the former’s private palace at Banda on Tuesday, the two top royals agreed that keeping their respective subjects together is the only way to go in order to cause development.
“As Kingdoms, we need to work hard and unite our people in everything that we do since our subjects look up to us as role models. We should have programs aimed at improving the living standards of our people and as such, we should emphasize togetherness”, Kabaka said during the meeting.
Flanked by his Premier, Charles Peter Mayiga and his Principal Private Secretary, Peter Mpanga,
the Kabaka, who congratulated the Kyabazinga upon becoming a King and completion of his
studies, advised the Kyabazinga and his entourage to go commercial in order to support their
“Our people have a lot of expectations in their Kingdom and it comes with hard work leading to
better service delivery. So just like us, I advise you to go commercial in the Kingdom in one way
or the other so as to support and sustain the different programs of the Kingdom.
This is because Busoga has a lot of potential to develop generally”, he argued advising the
Kyabazinga to interest himself in property, assets and land matters of his Kingdom among
others to empower his subjects economically, socially and culturally.
Premier Charles Peter Mayiga noted that as Buganda Kingdom, they are committed towards
helping their people fight poverty in addition to cooperating with other Kingdoms.
“As a Kingdom, we are committed to guide Kabaka’s subjects on how best to lead purposely
and meaningful lives. And we look forward to also cooperating with other institutions to attain
this,” Mayiga observed.
On his part, the Kyabazinga notified the Kabaka that promoting unity of purpose is among his four pillars on which Busoga Kingdom is running. The other pillars are Transparency, Accountability and positive Impact on top of the ten year strategic plan coupled with ministerial policies.
“Like Your Majesty noted, we are also promoting unity of purpose at all levels. We are interested in uniting our people first given the over six years that our Kingdom spent minus a substantive head. And from our observation, I can ably share with you that the future looks brighter as there is too much good will from our people”, the Kyabazinga shared with the Kabaka.
Accompanied by his Premier also National Planning Authority Executive Director, Dr. Joseph
Muvawala, Minister for Kyabazinga Affairs Owekitiibwa Yudaya Babirye, his younger brother
Prince Arnold Nadiope and his Personal Assistant John Naku, the Kyabazinga noted that sharing
of ideas and experiences as leaders was the only way to go.
“Learning is a continuous process and we are here to share experiences, learn from your
successful stories as a Kingdom that has been in existence for over twenty years and find
solutions on how best to manage ours as well”, he said before Dr. Muvawala revealed that they
will always benchmark what is tenable in Buganda in their Kingdom as well.
“For us as Busoga Kingdom, we are ready to borrow a leaf from you and synergy what is
practical back home. We always share ideas, information among others such that we attain our
set goals”, a jovial Muvawala said.
