Uganda is celebrating the World Hepatitis Day under the theme, “Know Hepatitis – Act Now”

It is reported that up to 3.5 million people in Uganda are living with viral hepatitis unknowingly.

 

The Executive Director of the National Organization for People Living with Hepatitis B, Kenneth Kabagambe has made a call to government to scale up hepatitis testing and treatment services in the country to help in reducing the needless deaths.

 

The virus prevalence rate in the country is reported at 10%, higher than that of HIV/AIDs.
