Uganda Human Rights Commission is mounting pressure on government to enact the anti-torture law.

The human rights activists have urged Minister for Justice and Constitutional affairs Kahinda Otafiire to consider appending his signature on the regulations of the anti-torture law that will see it get operationalized.

They decried the spate of torture incidents in places of detention despite Uganda’s ratification of the international convention against torture.

Uganda will join the rest of the world this Saturday to commemorate the UN International Day in Support of Torture Victims under a theme “Together in the fight against torture.”
