- School-going children exposed to smoking and drugs – study
Uganda Health Consumers and Users Association has taken tobacco campaigns to primary and secondary schools to effectively sensitize the young people about the recently passed tobacco law and the dangers associated with smoking.
The head teacher for KCCA primary school kamwokya, Jane Kansiime notes that school going-children are at a big risk of being exposed to smoking since smoking parents always send them to buy them cigarettes.
Findings carried out in 16 schools around Kampala City indicate that young people mostly from slum areas smoke and also use drugs while at school.
