Former opposition presidential candidate Dr Kizza Besigye has rebuked the prosecution for delaying investigations into his case. This follows the state lawyers’ request to court to give them more time for investigations, which court has granted.
Besigye has expressed concern that in the past, his rights to speedy trial have been violated when prosecution has no case and in the end he is not compensated.
He is facing a number of counts of treason following a video of him swearing in a president of Uganda was circulated on social media. The case has been adjourned to 12th August 2016.
