Atlas drops ‘Soup Kitchen’ video


Atlas, best known to many as Atlas the African has dropped yet another eyecatching, well thought and captivating video. The rapper who has established himself over years premiered the video on his YouTube channel on the 14th of October 2019.


Atlas Tha African is one of the most dynamic rappers to come out of East Africa. His breakthrough single “New Day” released in 2016 climbed the East African music charts reaching #1 two weeks in a row and the video featured on MTV’s Hip Hop top 10 countdown. Though Atlas is working on his new album “No Retirement 4 A Hustler” he is not new to the game. Atlas has collaborated with some of the industry’s best MC’s and artist in both Africa and internationally from the late great Nipsey Hussle, Mobb Deep, Maino, Kool G Rap, Smif and Wessun and Jaz O to name a few. His impeccable ability to deliver lyrics and paint a vivid picture to the listeners shows in his music how he represents Africa and relates to issues going on globally.

Born in East Africa, he and his family fled Africa due to extreme war that had erupted in his home country of Uganda. Growing up Atlas started listening to Hip Hop music and was influenced by rappers in the late 80s early 90s such as Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, Public Enemy, KRS ONE, N.W.A., EPMD and Run DMC. At the age of ten he took an interest in writing lyrics and by the time he turned Fourteen he had the skills to open up for Will Smith, Redman, Black Moon, Run DMC, ICE-T and LL cool J in a group he formed with local friends under the alias Headz First. In Canada he appeared on Much Music television after winning a nationwide freestyle competition to open up for Fabolous which held over 10,000 participants.

In 2009 Atlas returned to Uganda and continued his music career under the stage name Atlas Tha African and released several hit records and mixtapes which gained him local notoriety and earned his place as one of Uganda’s Hip Hop elites. Atlas currently owns his own Audio & Film studio “ATS Entertainment” where he gives free recording lessons and film training for under privileged youth.

“I had to hustle on my own so I know what it means to struggle for what you want. Through music I hope to motivate the youth and show them through Prayer, Dedication, Focus and Hardwork, they can achieve their dreams.
