The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has urged African Governments to subsidize cancer drugs so as to ease access and affordability by those on treatment.

From a speaker whose country’s sole radiotherapy machine broke down and whose cancer patients are seeking medical attention from neighbouring countries, Kadaga says subsidizing the medication would save the lives of many who do not have the capacity to pay for the mandatory doses because they are poor.

She made the remarks during the 10th ‘Stop Cervical, Breast and Prostate Cancer in Africa Conference’ in Ethiopia.
