Government has halved single entry tourist visa fees from $100 to $50 (about 170,000) in an effort to attract more tourists.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the changes take effect from today Friday July 22nd and all Ugandan borders have been notified to effect the changes.

The Internal Affairs Ministry spokesperson, Jacob Simunyu, says Uganda has been charging the highest fees for single entry tourist visas in the East African region.

Uganda has been consistently ranked among top tour destinations in the world.
