This afternoon, amidst tension, Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo delivered his sentence of the eight convicts of the July 2010 twin bombings in Kampala.
Five of the convicts have been sentenced to life imprisonment for masterminding and carrying out the killer attack, two; Husssein Hassan Luyima and SULEIMAN Hijjah Nyamandondo, have each been sentenced to 50 years in prison for murder and attempted murder, while Muzaphar Luyima has been sentenced to one year of community service in his residential area for failing to inform the authorities, despite his knowledge of the attack plans.
According to Justice Owiny, the convicts are to serve their sentences concurrently despite the fact that they have been on remand for at least five years.
Meanwhile the defence lawyers are not satisfied with the sentence, saying it is unfair since the 8 were young and vulnerable to pressures.
